In our time, to pledge constant and undying support or loyalty can often be taken lightly, but if you hold to your word and prove loyal, you will be greatly valued. In the course of your life you will be glad that you were loyal to others.
Scouting serves as a way to teach loyalty and honor, and the Scout Law brings us to this pledge each week by way of reminder. When we say the words again and again we remember that our loyal pledges create a sturdy foundation for friendships, our communities and our world.

Today’s news headlines can tell us a lot about why trust is so important, and what happens when you lose it. For scouts, trustworthiness isn’t an abstract concept, it’s an essential part of what it means to become a scout.
In scouting, the goal is to grow into someone who can be relied on through and through. There is something more valuable than membership in a club or a sport when you know that you can rely on those around you and that your word, once it’s given, is set.
When we pledge allegiance, make a vow or give our word, we’re doing so knowing that in the end, our word is all we really have. Knowing this will build strong people, strong families, strong communities and in the end, a better world.
We’re excited to know that an entire generation of boys are learning what it is to be men of their word, and that there are so many parents and scoutmasters ready to help them grow up right.

We live by laws. Each and every day we observe or break laws in our lives, either knowingly or unknowingly.
Some laws you can't really break, like gravity, unless you're an astronaut, or maybe Elon Musk. Some you don't know you're breaking, like maybe if you're under 18 and playing pinball in South Carolina (no, really).
Other laws are a little more obvious and not that hard to keep to, after all, even when you start to drive your 1980 Gremlin with wicker seats it's probably not up to hitting 95mph on the highway. The laws that we're held to are those that require good character, honest self examination and the dedication to put others first. Abiding by these laws will do more than keep you out of trouble in South Carolina pinball halls... they'll carry you through your life, strengthen your relationships and build your communities. This is why we are proud to highlight the Scout Law.
This rule of life has seen many young men through adolescence, to graduation and on into golden years with far more than just skills pertaining to knots. It has served as steps to maturity, a way to be prepared for all that the future throws at you, and as a solid footing in changing times. We're proud to present gifts that highlight the importance of Scouting and to present this series on The Scout Law. For the next several weeks we will highlight this wall decoration, and the importance of the Scout Law.
